Set User Permissions

General

Configuring the IACBOX’s permission settings is as important as configuring permissions on any other client in a network.
Sets of permissions can apply to Users or to Groups of Users.

It is also part of operating the IACBOX securely.
The WebAdmin provides user permissions for every single item in the navigation.
The System/WebAdmin User section is where all Users and Groups can be inspected, created, deleted and edited.

Permissions for Users

There are basic settings for a user such as changing a password, assinging a real name (for GDPR purposes), assigning the user to a group as well as activating/deactivating the user, log the users access etc. that can be made in the menu on the left.

  • Administrator: This checkbox denotes whether a user is able to do administrative tasks such as creating new webadmin users.
  • Allow Ticket Overwrites: Whether or not a webadmin user is allowed to adjust the ticket limits when a ticket is created in the webadmin.
  • Access Logging: Activating this will log this users activities in the System -> Application Log

Permissions for just about every function of the WebAdmin can be set on the right side menu after a user or group has been created.
For example, not every WebAdmin user should be able to adjust Ticket Templates or be even be able to administer a shutdown of the system.

Permissions for Groups

To manage multiple users efficiently the Webadmin provides the possiblity to group users, which diminishes administrative overhead.
Adjusting Group Permissions works the same as adjusting User Permissions.

At least one active WebAdmin Group must be present in order to use WebAdmin login via External Authentication.
