VLANs
General
With VLANs it is possible to divide the Surf-LAN network into different scopes, while each scope can be configured individually.
- VLANs can only be configured on the Surf-LAN side of the IACBOX.
- If VLANs are active, the incoming traffic from the Surf-LAN has to be tagged.
- All network devices (access points, managed switches, etc.) in the Surf-LAN must be configured properly.
Configuration
In the WebAdmin menu Network / VLANs, new VLANs can be added and activated/deactivated.
Different Login Methods can be assigned to the VLANs.
- Ticket based The user does get redirected to the landing page. There he needs to login with either an existing ticket, or by creating a new one.
- Autologin/no charge The guest will get logged in automatically with the assigned bandwidth.
- Autologin/no charge/deny roaming The guest will get logged in automatically with the assigned bandwidth. The created ticket is only valid in the VLAN it was created in.
- Autologin/no charge/shared bandwidth The guest will get logged in automatically with the assigned bandwidth. All guests in this VLAN share the configured bandwidth.
VLAN Configuration with PMS
If the PMS-interface is configured in the WebAdmin menu in Login methods / Hotel software (PMS), the option Map to room number can be activated in Network / VLANs. This will create a VLAN on the IACBOX for each room and also enables alternate logon modes:
- Show only room number When guests are redirected to the login page, the room number field will already be filled.
- Semiautomatic logon Guests do not need to enter any data to login and automatically get redirected to the ticket selection.
Redirect Before Logon per VLAN
For each configured VLAN a redirect before logon can be assigned.
For example: If a guest gets online via an Access Point near a hotel bar, he can get redirected to a custom page with additional suggestions relating to the hotel bar.
To accomplish this, navigate to the Login page / Redirects menu and fill in all the websites intended for redirects.
Then switch to Network / VLANs and activate the option Per VLAN redirect before logon. Now a redirect link can be set for each VLAN.
Please keep in mind that a return link back to the IACBOX is required!
This backlink must be created on the according website by the website’s owner/administrator and must point to the login page of the IACBOX:
- https://hotspot.internet-for-guests.com/?showloginpage=1 (Version >= v21.0)
- https://hotspot.internet-for-guests.com/logon/cgi/index.cgi (Version <= v19.0)
Web Filter per VLAN
If the Web Filter is active on the IACBOX, it can be bypassed by enabling the option Bypass Web Filter in the VLAN settings. This can be useful if content must be blocked selectively.
Ticket Templates per VLAN
If VLANs are configured, single ticket templates
can be assigned to them.
Navigate to Users/Tickets/Templates and edit a template.
Here the template can be assigned and limited to specific VLANs.
Example - PMS Configuration
In the WebAdmin menu Login methods/Hotel software (PMS) the PMS login method is activated and configured. Additional 3 ticket templates are assigned to PMS and also to specific VLANs in Users/Tickets/Templates
- Ticket Template 1: assigned VLANs 10, 12
- Ticket Template 2: assigned VLANs 10
- Ticket Template 3: assigned VLANs 11, 12
Depending on which VLAN guests are coming from only the PMS tickets, which are allowed for the current VLAN, are being displayed.
Loginpage per VLAN
Login Pages can be assigned to VLANs. Navigate to Login page / Login Page Editor and set per VLAN, which loginpage should be displayed.
