Data Collector

The Data Collector allows you to add some required or optional input fields to collect specific data like Names, Email-addresses or feedback. It can be used in two different ways, which both will be explained on this page.

How to use

The Data Collector can be used in two different ways:

  • In-line
  • On-page

The difference between those two options is: The In-line data collector is connected to a specific login method, while the On-page data collector can be used independently. This means the On-page data collector is optional by itself, but it can contain required input fields which have to be filled out in order to send the form.

In-Line Data Collector

You first need to set up a data collector template in the WebAdmin menu Login page/Data Collector to use In-line data collector.

In the following example the In-line data collector will ask for the Name as a required field and the Email address as an optional field.

  • Any pre-selections from the drop-down menu such as Name do already have translations in all available languages.
  • If you add a Custom text descripton, then no translation will be available.

After the template has been created, navigate to the WebAdmin menu Login page/Login Page Editor. At the top you’ll see which design is currently active as Default login page. Find the design in the list below and click on the green Show/Edit button next to it.

The editor will open and on the top right side, click on the tab Page and open the Extensions.

Enable the option Data Collector Inline and click on Save.

After the page has been saved and reloaded, you find a new data collector section called DataCollectorInline in the same menu. Select one or more login methods which you want to be linked to the data collector profile created earlier.

On-Page Data Collector

You first need to set up a data collector template in the WebAdmin menu Login page/Data Collector to use the On-Page data collector. Add all the input fields you want to the template.

In the following example the On-page data collector will ask for the Email as a required field and the Mobile number as an optional field.

After the template has been created, navigate to the WebAdmin menu Login page/Login Page Editor. At the top you’ll see which design is currently active as Default login page. Find the design in the list below and click on the green Show/Edit button next to it.

The editor will open. To add the On-page data collector, click on the Data Collector element in the left upper side and drag it to your login page.

For example between the logo and the welcome message. After you’ve dragged this element on to the login page, the page will automatically reload and look like this.
