Tickets and Templates

Tickets

Every client device that is online over the system has a valid ticket (Surf-Ticket).

A ticket is either

  • created upfront explicitly/manually
  • or gets created on-the-fly by many different backends

Tickets hold configuration settings and meta data for one single device:

  • Authentication credentials if any (username, password)
  • Identifying information depending on the login method (like an email address after Email login or phone number after SMS login)
  • Limits
    • Bandwidth speed
    • Download/Upload volume
    • Lifetime and expiration
  • Daytime restrictions
  • Filter settings (DNS-, port filter)

Ticket Templates

Every ticket is based on a Ticket Template. The template holds basic values and settings that get copied into a ticket the moment it gets created.

Basic Settings

Ticket Templates are the foundation of the IACBOX’s automation. This function provides quick and easy control and overview on the way that guests are taken online. Templates can be used for all Login Methods while offering the flexibility to be used for specific Login Methods only.

Besides the basic functions of adding a name and description to Ticket Templates there are a wide range of settings that allow for adjustments in both general and specific use-cases.

Time/Payment Settings

Tickets come in two major variations.

  • Flat Rate: The configured Time Credit is available from the moment of the first login and runs down independently from active usage.

  • Time Rate: The Time Credit will be used up gradually dependent on active usage.

The Expiration Date sets a fixed amount of days in which a ticket can be used starting from the day the ticket has been issued.

Max Download & Upload Bandwidth settings start as “Default” and can be adjusted according to Bandwidth Management settings in Network / Settings. The “Default” settings are taken from Users/Tickets -> Ticket Defaults. Changing the bandwidth settings in the template will overwrite the Ticket Default settings.

Max Devices setting controls how many individual devices can log in via the ticket created through this template.

Technical Settings

Max Idle Time is per default 0, which means it takes its settings from the Users/Tickets -> Ticket Defaults menu. It controls how long a client in the logged in state will remain logged in while being inactive.

Port Filter Groups and Application Control Profiles can also be assigned on a per-Template basis.

Templates can be turned on or off for the Login Methods as needed.

The IACBOX also allows for a quick way to control at what time logins are permitted.
